5 on Friday

I had so much fun last week doing 5 on Friday I thought I should do it again!

You can link up at a. liz adventures, carolina charm, hello! happiness or the good life blog.

This weeks edition is all about the home.

When I first moved out on my own with a 5 year old little boy, my friends mom gave me all the furniture she no longer had a use for. There were couches, coffee tables, dressers, and many kitchen items.

I was so grateful for her generosity. She really helped make my house a home.

Now 6 years later I still have the same items.

My husband and I have been talking for quite awhile about getting new furniture that is more OUR style.

I want to replace the kitchen items with items that are better quality.

So these are a few items that we would LOVE in our home.

*one*

Ikea has some great items. We love these pieces because they are in our price range, the lines are clean, and gray goes with every color. {Yes, I love all colors.} The couch is $499 and the rug is $199. We haven't decided if we will get coffee tables since Maysie broke the glass and fell through the last one.

I love this welcome mat. Maybe it is because I am British. Maybe because I love all things "keep calm". Maybe because it is $9.99 at Dayspring.

Don't you just love this cookie jar. Now that I have my new KitchenAid Artisan Mixer, I make cookies all the time. I typically just put them on a plate and cover them in plastic wrap. {Well that is if we don't eat them all first} This owl would be perfect to put cookies in. Target is selling it for $19.99.

Although, I do love this owl from Anthropologie.

But the $68 price tag isn't my favorite.

I love these glass canisters from Anthropologie. I am trying to stay away from plastic {you know ... trying to be all green and crunchy} and these are great! They are 16 oz and $10 each from Anthropologie.

Dayspring has a new line for Easter. Their Daily Grace collection is beautiful and whimsical! This platter sells for $37. It would be perfect hanging on a wall or for serving fantastic meals to my family.

Well that is my 5 on Friday. What pieces would you love to have in your home?

5 on Friday!

I have been reading The Girl in the Red Shoes blog for a while now and I love how she does 5 on Friday. I love all of her posts with her son Hudson and her family but I really love her 5 on Friday posts. So I decided it was time I join in on all the fun. She links up at the good life blog. Come check out all the fun!

I have been looking into essential oils for a while now and I just decided to take the leap. I signed up to be a member and ordered the premium starter kit. Now I just can't wait to receive it in the mail. The two things I am hoping to get from these oils would be to create a calm and peaceful home that allows my son and daughter to sleep better at night and I want to use the oils to help my son with his ADHD. I promise I will let you know how this goes. If you are interested in purchasing oils email me and I can help you with that.

*two*
I love Nora Roberts! I love her trilogies because they mix history and romance. I just found this trilogy that I never heard about. I have read her Inn at Boonsboro trilogy and her Bride Quartet books. So hopefully sometime soon I will be able to read these!!

*three*
I have been drinking a ton more water. I am drinking it in a large mason jar but it doesn't have a lid. And if I leave it anywhere in Maysie's reach she dumps it out on the floor. I would love this mason jar mug from Target. I think it is a necessity.

*four*
I have seen this Wonderfully Made t-shirt on a few bloggers {Casey Wiegand} and I love it. I am kind of a sucker for gray t-shirts!

*five*
With summmer hopefully around the corner {although it doesn't feel like it in Chicago} my kiddos will need swimsuits. These cute and bright suits are at Target and both are for a great price. My husband isn't crazy about the idea of a two piece for a one year old but this one is super cute. Also, since Jacob is so fair skinned I love seeing him in blue. They both could rock these suits.

So that is what I am drooling over right now! This was fun. I think I will have to do 5 on Friday again!!

Happy Friday!

5 On Friday {Things I Want}

I have never done a 5 on Friday post before but this was so much fun! I decided I would post things that I want.

1. Starbucks Shaken Iced Peach Green Tea - I just tried this drink 2 weeks ago and it is delicious. I could drink this every single day. It isn't overly sweet but just sweet enough. I am in love with it!

2. A Homemade Teepee by Strawberry Swing & Other Things - How cute is this teepee?!?! I was just saying the other day that Little Miss would love a tent since she likes to "hide" under her high chair. Due to the fact that you could use any fabric you want I would love to customize this to something very shabby chiq. I love this tutorial.

3. Organic Flip Top Reusable Bag by The Clementine Bee - Now that we are preparing for back to school in our household. These would be perfect. I really hate spending money on bags that I throw away on a daily basis. These bags are really cute and would be perfect for my soon to be 5th grader!

4. All Natural Lemon/Almond/or Vanilla Extract - I have been on a baking kick lately. The artificial extract that I buy from Aldi does the trick but it doesn't taste very vanilla-y (I know that isn't really a word). To have an all natural product that would kick my baking up a notch. Love Love Love!

5. Book Bag Storage Inspiration - The one thing I hate about back to school is that there are book bags, lunch bags, and school supplies everywhere (although I do love new school supplies). This would be a perfect way to keep all the bags off the floor plus the corkboards would be a great way to keep notes, permission slips, or calenders organized.
